Terminator III: Rise of the Machines |
Well, he said
he'd be back... and for a third time!
Arnold will make a third appearance in Terminator III: Rise of the
Machines, due out in the Summer of 2003. This time around, he'll
do it without Linda "I'm buffer than those dudes" Hamilton (Sarah Connor) and Director James "I'm
the King of the World" Cameron. Cameron had declined Arnolds
request to help make T3, and Linda Hamilton officially colored herself
absent from the project after reading the script. That just leaves
Big Arnold as (guess what?) a machine from the future, Little Eddie
Furlong (as future savior of Human Civilization John Connor), and
who? Who will play the villain in this one?
Well, how's this
for an equal opportunity plot twist? The evil terminator in this
one will be (get this) a female! We've already seen many female villain
robots such as the girls of Harry Mudd in Star Trek and the more recent
Fem Bots of Austin Powers (Machine gun Jubblys!), but Arnie says that
the T3 Bad Girl will not be one that you would bring home to mama.
She will be able to morph, dissipate, and just plain turn into energy.
Harder to kill than a rat at Patti's Chinese Kitchen, this Bad Girl is
scripted to give the Arnold Terminator all he can handle.
Rumor has it that Chyna from the WWF will play the (*ahem*) heavy this
time around. Hey! I thought the new terminator was supposed to be
a female?
Rumor also has it that big, bad, buff Vin Diesel of The Fast and the
Furious fame will also be appearing - possibly as a second evil
terminator.
T3 will be directed by Jonathan Mostow, who directed U-571. Let's
hope for Arnold's sake he does a better job than that project
(*YAWN*). He has some big shoes to fill in Cameron's
absence. Terminator and T2 were really excellent movies in my
opinion. Fresh, exciting, and full of plot.
I feel that the
storyline will need ample freshening if this movie stands a chance of
living up to it's prequels. Sounds like I've heard this story
before... Evil Terminator comes from Future to kill John Connor and Good
Guy Terminator Arnold comes back to protect him. Changing the
terminator into a girl ain't enough folks.
Well, hope the film isn't an embarrassment. It's budget has
ballooned past $180 million, easily earning it the most expensive movie
ever made title. Director Mostow, you've got your work cut out for
you. Please make us Terminator Fans say "I'll be back... for
T4!"
